Howl's Moving Castle is a Studio Ghibli feature film directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki, based on the novel of the same name by British children's author Diana Wynne Jones, released in Japanese theaters on November 20, 2004, through distributor Toho. The story follows Sophie, an 18-year-old girl working at a hat shop. One day, she catches the eye of the Witch of the Waste, who curses her, transforming her into a 90-year-old woman. Unable to let anyone see her new appearance, Sophie wanders the wilderness and stumbles upon a strange moving castle piloted by the wizard Howl, where she ends up living as the castle's housekeeper.
