Eden's Bowy is a TV anime based on the manga by Kitsune Tennoji, airing for 26 episodes on TV Tokyo from April 6 to September 28, 1999. Produced by Studio Deen and directed by Tsukasa Sunaga, the story follows Yorn Kotto, an ordinary boy who lives with his farmer father. Unbeknownst to him, Yorn is actually a descendant of the 'god-slayer' clan said to have hunted deities in ancient times — a secret his father kept from him out of care. One day, a mysterious light falls over the Cocasa region where Yorn lives, and his encounter with Elysis, a strange girl who falls from the sky, dramatically changes the course of his life. Drawn into battle after meeting Elysis, Yorn sets out on a grueling journey toward the floating city of Eden alongside the swordsman Ulgar Dyne and others. Much of the original manga's risque and violent content was cut for the adaptation, resulting in a dark fantasy action series suitable for TV Tokyo's early-evening timeslot. Voice actress Hekiru Shiina, who sang the opening theme, also made headlines for playing the dual roles of Elysis and Sheeda.
