Aldnoah.Zero is an original TV anime co-produced by A-1 Pictures and TROYCA, which began airing on TOKYO MX and other stations on July 6, 2014. It reunites story concept writer Gen Urobuchi and director Ei Aoki, the team behind Fate/Zero, for an entirely new mecha series. Fifteen years prior, Martian colonists who monopolized the ancient super-technology "Aldnoah" discovered on Mars founded the Vers Empire, sparking a war with Earth. Fifteen years after a ceasefire, Martian princess Asseylum visits Earth as a goodwill ambassador but is targeted in an assassination attempt, and when Earth's forces are wrongly suspected, war breaks out once again. Earth boy Inaho Kaizuka and Martian boy Slaine Troyard, standing on opposite sides of the conflict, are swept into the chaos and eventually confront each other amid a tangle of fate and hidden intentions.
